Computer-aided radiographic method
Computer-aided radiographic methods exploit the measurement potential of computers in assessing and recording lesion size. In the new Trophy 97 system an artificial intelligence software (Logicon Caries Detector) is integrated: Approximal carious lesions are diagnosed and evaluated with the aid of a unique histologic database, allowing graphic visualization of the size and progression of the lesion (Figs 197a to 197c).
At both the D1 and D3 thresholds, computer-aided methods offer high levels of sensitivity for approximal lesions. Earlier software paid the penalty of some trade-off with specificity, but newer methods also have high values for this measure.

The trend is toward integration of several computer-aided tools and services in a local network with a powerful personal computer (Fig 198): Radiographs (conventional and digitized as well as computer aided) and clinical slides can be transmitted for consultations and information.

How true are all statements in Arming at risk kids. Next to last pargaraph: Prepare for life after sports I have been telling anyone who will listen since 1999 when the OA research showed that 70% of female athletes will have OA whether surgery is required or not in 12 years whereas male athletes may or may not have OA within 20 years.Since 1995, I have trained >600 teen female athletes with remarkable results. Yet, about 99% of parents/guardians believe something bad will happen to others, not their daughter-athlete. When the youngsters hear their Dad (more so than Moms) say training to play sports is not important then it is not valued. Therefore, one of my main messages is just that: Today, all female athletes need to value training to play sports.I believe if training is valued then we do not have to talk about the OA and other challenges as much since we know that safe and age-appropriate training for teen female athletes (now researchers want 9-12 year old females to stabilize/strengthen their lower body) will minimize their risk for injury.I hope future editor comments can be directed towards reminding everyone that now all females need to train to play sports.

Not only do I not turn off the music, but I put it on, if it’s not already on. When wrntiig, doing an experiment in the lab, reading a paper; whenever I can, I put music on. I listen to my iPod all day in the lab; pipetting is a lot easier/more pleasant with music on. Writing-wose (whether science-related or something else), this also doesn’t suffer from having my music on. Though at times (not frequently) I can get so concentrated I won’t even notice the music (only when it’s gone). The only times that I will turn music off, is when there is something pressing and stressing that I need to deal with (but not because it’ll distract me, but rather cause I lose the mood for music). As for music with studying; well, usually (in particular if it’s material that requires remembering details), I will simply put ambient, electronic, calm jazz or some instrumental rock or metal music. For some reason “quiet” can distract me. I need at least some ambient “noise”.

The main cause of psoriasis is ovcoreaetirn of the immune system. Keeping it in a balanced state is the key point of battling this disease. I try to eat healthy food and avoid stress as much as I can. After using number of prescription drugs I’ve turned to the natural treatments. Now I use serenaskin herbal remedies , which aim at the root of the disease the immune system, and are steroid-free.After about 2 weeks of using ointment and spray my skin has been cleared up and now I just continue with psoriasis extract, which controls the immune system. My skin has been clear for months now.It is the only treatment I have found that provides me complete relief when I use it as directed.

That makes perfect sense. I can’t write “important emilas” either with music on. I definitely can’t write any blog posts or stories with music on unless it’s quiet enough to be background noise. The only time music actually helps is for writing papers for school. The loud jarring sounds seem to get my brain unstuck from the academic writer’s block that always manages to sink in when I’ve got a paper to write–particularly one that due the next day. But usually, once I get going, I have to turn the music off or on really low volume. Music is good for other tasks like washing dishes or reading a magazine, but not during writing most times. http://xxdvityw.com myqdswdain [link=http://kahlivq.com]kahlivq[/link]

Digital radiographic methodDigital, filmless, techniques for intraoral radiography have been developed for several important reasons:1. Conventional film absorbs only a few percent of the x-rays that reach it, utilizing very little of the radiation to which the patient has been exposed.2. Poor darkroom procedure can lead to both unnecessarily high doses of radiation and loss of diagnostic information.3. Development of films is time consuming, and the developer and fixing solutions are hazardous to the environment.

Conventional bitewing radiographic methodSeveral factors have contributed to the general adoption of radiographic examination as an aid to the detection and subsequent treatment of caries:1. It discloses sites inaccessible to other diagnostic methods. Radiography facilitates detection of carious lesions at an earlier, potentially reversible stage. Usually, more approximal and occlusal lesions are recorded when clinical examinations are supplemented by radiography. 2. The depth of the lesion can be evaluated and scored, eg, by the radiographic index by Grondahl et al (1977), modified from Moller and Poulsen (1973): 0 = no radiographic changes in enamel; 1 = radiographic changes in enamel; 2 = radiolucency extending to the dentinoenamel junction; 3 = radiolucency penetrating approximately halfway through dentin; and 4 = radiolucency close to the pulp.

Visual method with temporary elective tooth separation and impression of the approximal lesionTemporary elective tooth separation, complemented by a localized impression of the opened interproximal space, allows a more sensitive diagnosis of cavitation than does the purely visual separation method. This also has the advantage of providing a replica as a reference for visual monitoring of changes in size or even measurement of serial impressions (Neilson and Pitts, 1993; Seddon, 1989).

Visual method with temporary elective tooth separationThe once popular technique of temporary elective tooth separation as an aid to diagnosis of caries in approximal smooth surfaces is now regaining popularity, albeit with more humane and less traumatic methods that seem acceptable to most patients and dentists. This method permits a more definite assessment of whether radiographically detectable approximal enamel (D1, D2) and dentin lesions (D3) are cavitated (Pitts and Longbottom, 1987; Pitts and Rimmer, 1992; Rimmer and Pitts, 1990).

Visual method used in European epidemiologic surveysProbing has been criticized for several reasons: It may allow transmission of  cariogenic bacteria from infected sites, it can irreversibly traumatize potentially remineralizable noncavitated lesions of enamel and dentin, and it may provide no more accuracy in diagnosis than visual inspection alone, particularly in the fissures and on the posterior approximal surfaces. Accordingly, a so-called European system of examination for surveys, based primarily on detailed visual examination, has been adopted by many epidemiologists.
